ITVDesk 10.3 adds selected-area desktop capture and an authenticated Motion Event API, while improving external access setup, RDP desktop streaming, application-window capture, network handling, secure RTSPS preparation, and media-stream stability for professional VMS and NVR environments.
Release highlights
- Selected Area capture lets users stream a specific area of an individual monitor while keeping full-desktop capture available when needed.
- Authenticated Motion Event API lets approved external applications trigger and clear ONVIF motion events for enabled ITVDesk IPCam channels.
- Improved RDP desktop reliability keeps an RDP desktop stream available with a NO VIDEO state while the remote desktop is temporarily unavailable, then resumes the desktop image automatically.
- Expanded External Access setup supports automatic UPnP mapping on supported routers and a clear manual router-mapping workflow.
Improvements
- Each monitor now keeps its own selected-area and full-desktop settings.
- External connection details are more reliable when router ports differ from local ONVIF, HTTPS, RTSP, RTSPS, web, or snapshot service ports.
- Application Window streams now follow the selected window when it is resized or maximized.
- Computer Screen Live adapts automatically when the Windows desktop resolution changes in Standard or Remote Desktop sessions.
- Auto IP handling refreshes camera service and RTSP connection details more reliably after a LAN address change.
- Secure RTSPS port availability handling is more reliable during initial setup.
- IPv6 camera setup and dual-stack streaming are available more reliably after adding or editing an IPCam.
- From File media streams now close active RTSP sessions more safely during restart, disconnect, and streaming-mode changes.
ITVDesk 10.3 update overview
Version 10.3.0 (Build 7.7.11.2), released on July 15, 2026, expands ITVDesk desktop capture and integration workflows while improving reliability for remote, managed, and networked VMS/NVR deployments.
Selected Area capture for Computer Screen Live
ITVDesk now supports Selected Area capture for Computer Screen Live. Instead of always streaming the entire monitor, an operator can select the required part of one monitor and expose only that area through the ITVDesk virtual IP camera.
This is useful for POS workstations, control-room dashboards, production applications, HMI/SCADA views, and other workflows where only a defined application area needs to be recorded or monitored. Full Desktop remains available whenever the entire display is needed.
- Choose a specific area on an individual monitor.
- Keep full-desktop capture available for the same monitor when required.
- Maintain separate selected-area and desktop settings for each monitor.
- Reduce unnecessary visual content in the VMS/NVR stream.
Authenticated Motion Event API
ITVDesk 10.3 adds an authenticated Motion Event API for ITVDesk IPCam channels. When the Motion Event API option is enabled for a channel, an approved external application can trigger or clear an ONVIF motion event.
This supports integration workflows where a POS system, industrial process, analytics system, access-control platform, or custom application needs to tell a VMS/NVR that a relevant event has started or ended. The VMS/NVR can then apply its normal event-driven recording, alerting, or investigation rules according to its own configuration.
The API is opt-in per channel and uses ITVDesk camera authentication. It does not change normal motion detection behavior unless the option is enabled and an authenticated request is made.
External Access: UPnP and manual router mapping
External Access setup now offers both Automatic (UPnP) and Manual router-mapping modes. Where a supported router and network policy allow it, ITVDesk can prepare the selected mapping automatically. In managed or protected networks, the same screen presents the connection details required for an administrator to create router rules manually.
ITVDesk also improves connection details for remote VMS/NVR systems when the router uses external port numbers that differ from local service ports. This helps administrators use the correct external ONVIF, HTTPS, RTSP, RTSPS, web, or snapshot connection information for the selected deployment.
External access should be enabled only when needed, with strong camera credentials and network rules approved by the organization.
Application Window capture improvements
Application Window media streams now automatically follow the selected window when it is resized or maximized. This helps keep the intended application view aligned with the stream without requiring a new source selection for normal window-layout changes.
Improved Computer Screen Live behavior in RDP sessions
Windows Remote Desktop can temporarily stop delivering usable desktop frames when an RDP desktop is unavailable. ITVDesk 10.3 now keeps the affected RDP desktop stream available by sending a NO VIDEO state while valid desktop frames are unavailable, then automatically resumes the real desktop image when the session becomes available again.
This behavior applies to desktop capture inside RDP sessions. It helps VMS/NVR clients maintain a predictable stream state during a temporary RDP interruption without changing the established local desktop capture behavior.
Resolution, IP address, RTSPS and IPv6 reliability
Computer Screen Live now adapts automatically to Windows desktop resolution changes in Standard and Remote Desktop sessions. This prevents stale or duplicated image areas while keeping the existing stream active.
Auto IP handling has been improved after LAN address changes. ITVDesk refreshes camera service and RTSP connection details more reliably and updates the camera and channel view when a new LAN address is assigned.
Initial secure RTSPS setup now handles port availability conflicts more reliably. IPv6 camera setup and dual-stack streaming support have also been improved so newly added or edited IPCams become available more consistently without requiring an application restart.
From File stream shutdown stability
Active file-based RTSP sessions now close safely during camera restarts, VMS/NVR client disconnects, and streaming-mode changes. This improves stability during media-source changes and prevents a rare application crash.
Recommended after updating
- Test Selected Area capture with the intended monitor and VMS/NVR recording profile.
- Enable the Motion Event API only for channels and integrations that require it.
- Validate Automatic UPnP or manual router mappings before using external access in production.
- Test Application Window and RDP desktop streams in the real workstation environment.
- Review ONVIF, RTSP, RTSPS, IPv6, and firewall settings after a network or IP-address change.
ITVDesk 10.3 continues the focus on secure, flexible, and reliable virtual IP camera workflows for professional VMS, NVR, remote-desktop, and protected-network environments.
