ITVDesk 10.6 adds Windows User Session media sources for Windows Server, RDP, and RDS environments, together with persistent per-user session binding, expanded Server Mode controls, and configurable PNG logo overlays.

ITVDesk 10.6 update overview
Version 10.6.0 (Build 7.7.11.2), released on August 11, 2026, introduces dedicated Windows User Session media sources for Windows Server, Remote Desktop, and Remote Desktop Services environments. The release also completes the Server Mode configuration workflow, improves multi-session isolation and recovery, and adds configurable PNG logo overlays for video streams.
Windows User Session media sources
Each ITVDesk channel can now follow the active Windows session, capture the local console, or remain assigned to a selected Windows user and monitor. This gives administrators more precise control over which Windows desktop is presented to a VMS or NVR in multi-user, RDP, and RDS deployments.
Administrators can select active, disconnected, and known local users. A specific domain account can also be added without enumerating the entire domain.
Persistent per-user session binding
Selected users are identified by their Windows SID instead of relying only on a temporary Session ID. ITVDesk can therefore locate the intended user session again after reconnects, new logons, Session ID changes, service restarts, or Windows restarts.
Multi-session routing and isolation have also been improved. A Windows User Session channel accepts frames only from its assigned Windows session and does not switch to an unrelated signed-in user.
Per-channel session status and desktop settings
The main camera view now displays the selected user, session type and ID, connection state, and desktop assigned to each Windows User Session channel. Improved naming and selection make users and monitors easier to identify in ITVDesk and in connected VMS/NVR channel lists.
Every Windows User Session channel keeps its own desktop configuration. The selected user and monitor can use Full Desktop or Selected Area capture with independent cursor, PTZ remote control, keyboard overlay, and exact-monitor settings.
Remote Desktop session transfer
Selected Remote Desktop sessions can be transferred to the local console through a controlled workflow. ITVDesk validates the selected session, warns when the console is already in use, and requests confirmation before disconnecting the RDP client.
Server Mode configuration workflow
The Server Mode workflow for Windows service deployments is now complete. The status bar clearly distinguishes a running server from configuration mode and provides controlled Stop, Configure, Apply, and Start operations.
Configuration and service ownership transitions are handled more reliably when entering Server Configuration and applying changes back to the Broker Service. The main window layout has also been improved when Server Mode and Remote Desktop session controls are visible.
Windows session recovery and NO VIDEO continuity
Session recovery has been improved across Windows user switching, RDP reconnects, user logoff, service restart, and Windows restart. If the assigned user logs off completely, the RTSP channel remains available with a NO VIDEO frame and automatically restores the live desktop when the assigned session returns.
This release also fixes stale or incorrect routing during Console, RDP, and RDS user changes.
Configurable PNG logo overlays
ITVDesk video streams can now include a validated local PNG logo. Users can adjust the logo opacity from 0% to 100%, while the original PNG transparency is preserved.
ONVIF snapshot responsiveness
ONVIF snapshot requests now return the available cached or default image immediately and queue a refresh. This prevents simultaneous camera snapshot requests from delaying RTSP stream startup in Standard and Server modes.
Recommended after updating
- Verify the intended Windows user and monitor assignment for every Windows User Session channel.
- Test the configured behavior after RDP reconnect, user switching, user logoff, and service restart.
- Confirm that each Windows User Session channel remains isolated from other signed-in users.
- If a PNG overlay is enabled, verify its placement, transparency, and opacity in the VMS/NVR live view and recording.
- For Server Mode deployments, confirm the Stop, Configure, Apply, and Start workflow before returning the system to production operation.
Standard Mode retains its existing capture, configuration, and streaming behavior.
